Douglas Laboratories Pregnenolone is a dietary supplement providing the highest purity pregnenolone. Pregnenolone is synthesized in the adrenal gland mitochondria from cholesterol and, to a lesser degree, in the brain, liver, testes, ovaries, and skin. Once synthesized, it is released into the cytosol and can be converted into DHEA or into progesterone. DHEA is a precursor compound to the estrogens and androgens. Progesterone is a precursor to cortisol, aldosterone, androstenedione, testosterone and estrogen.
